How website and messenger blocks work: DNS, IP and DPI in plain language
A simple explanation of why a service may stop loading and what DNS blocks, IP blocks and traffic filtering mean.
Blocking is not one single switch
When a service stops opening, the cause is not always inside the app. It may be DNS, a route issue, an IP-level restriction or deeper traffic filtering.
To a user it looks the same: the page does not load or messages do not send. Technically, the causes can be different.
DNS, IP and DPI
DNS blocking interferes with the system that turns a domain name into a server address. IP blocking limits access to server addresses. DPI tries to classify traffic itself and can create unstable symptoms across networks.
If a messenger is temporarily unavailable, check the official website, the web app, app updates and your connection. Avoid unofficial downloads.
SafeSway access
SafeSway provides an official website, web version and Android APK so users have clear official paths. Save the official domain and use links from there.
